Waiting In The Wings

Track #11

from the album Sunrise

5:07

A slow dance ballad with piano and strings about the confession of secret desires, where the perfect match for each person is nearby, one knowing it, and the other not noticing due to being fresh out of a relationship but increasingly ready to get back in the swing.

"Waiting In The Wings"

Written by Scott Cooley

You're so lonely and I'm the only

One who can really tell

I've got a secret crush and it's because

I've come to know you so well

Why can't you see I'm what you need

To get over him and feel better

I wonder what will it take for us to make

A new romance together

You dance with all your girlfriends

But that doesn't mean you want to

I'm a wallflower man

But I can't take my eyes off you

You're the reigning dancing queen

But if you could only see

I'm lonely too and wishing

I could be your king

I'm waiting in the wings

You're available, maybe attainable

And I'm strategizing how

You're in my orbit, back on the market

But I'm just a friend to you now

I'm biding my time on the sidelines

And if you only knew

I'm ready to groove with my best moves

And I'm saving them just for you

You dance with all your girlfriends

But that doesn't mean you want to

I'm a wallflower man

But I can't take my eyes off you

You're the reigning dancing queen

But if you could only see

I'm lonely too and wishing

I could be your king

I'm waiting in the wings

It won’t be long until they play a slow song

And I’ll ask you to dance someday

With liquid courage I won’t get discouraged

If you never thought of me that way

I’ll take a chance, because it’s more than a dance

And we’re not getting any younger

We’re both empty inside, so why not give it a try

It might satisfy our love hunger

You dance with all your girlfriends

But that doesn't mean you want to

I'm a wallflower man

But I can't take my eyes off you

You're the reigning dancing queen

But if you could only see

I'm lonely too and wishing

I could be your king

I'm waiting in the wings
